Coordinate and complete
Coordinate in private, in-app messaging with each approved witness. Signing documents are shared with end-to-end encryption.
Confirm and pay
Confirm the work is complete. The witness's payment is released within 5 business days after you confirm.

Who Can Post
To post, verify your identity with Stripe (a government ID and a selfie), then add the state where the signing happens: your state license with proof of commission and E&O insurance, reviewed and approved by the ActaVia team.
Notaries can also take witness opportunities from other notaries — with the same account.
What It Costs
Joining is free. When you post, you pay the compensation you set plus a posting fee and a service fee. The witness receives 100% of the agreed compensation.
Notary plans lower or remove the posting fee, depending on the plan (current amounts on the Fees page); every plan starts with a free trial.

Common Questions
Can witnesses post opportunities?
No. Posting is limited to notaries with an approved license for the state of the job, and to standard business and signing-service accounts. Witnesses browse and respond to opportunities.
What does it cost to join?
Joining is free. Witnesses pay no fees on their work and receive 100% of the agreed compensation; an optional Witness Pro plan adds extra tools, but you never need it to work. Posters pay a posting fee plus a service fee on top of the compensation. Notary plans lower or remove the posting fee depending on the plan, business plans remove it, and every plan starts with a free trial. See current amounts on the fee schedule.
How are users verified?
Every user who transacts verifies their identity with Stripe Identity (a government ID and a selfie): witnesses before taking or bidding on an opportunity, notaries before submitting their first state license, and businesses before posting. Notaries also upload their state license with proof of commission and E&O insurance, reviewed and approved by the ActaVia team. ActaVia does not run background checks.
