Check the date, time, general location and compensation. Respond at the posted amount or offer a higher one.
Get selected and complete the signing
If the poster selects you, you'll see the exact address and coordinate in the app.
Get paid
Mark the job complete. Payment is released after the poster confirms it.

Who Can Be a Witness
You don't need to be a notary. Witnesses verify their identity with Stripe Identity (a government ID and a selfie) before taking or bidding on an opportunity, and confirm they are 18 or older.
Witness requirements vary by state, document and transaction. The notary on the signing remains responsible for confirming you can witness it.
How Pay Works
Witnesses pay no fees on their work and receive 100% of the agreed compensation. The poster pays the compensation up front when they post.
Payment is released within 5 business days after the poster confirms the opportunity is complete, unless the job is under review or an account needs attention. Deposit timing after that depends on your bank.

Common Questions
Do I have to be a notary to be a witness?
No. Witnesses don't need a notary commission. They verify their identity with Stripe before taking or bidding on an opportunity. Notaries can also take witness opportunities.
How do witnesses get paid?
Through ActaVia, with Stripe. The poster pays the compensation when they post. When the work is done you mark it complete and the poster confirms it. Payment is released within 5 business days after the poster confirms the opportunity is complete, unless the job is under review or an account needs attention. No. ActaVia is a marketplace. Opportunities depend on what notaries and businesses post in your area, and we can't guarantee work or earnings.
