How to Delete Your Account
Deleting your ActaVia account is permanent. This page explains what happens when you delete, what can temporarily block deletion, and what we are legally required to keep.
Overview
Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. When you delete your account, your personal information is removed or anonymized, any active subscription is cancelled, and you will no longer be able to sign in. Records we are required to retain for tax and legal compliance are kept in anonymized form only — see What remains below.
Before you can delete
A few conditions can stop a deletion so that money and commitments are never stranded:
- Funds being held. If you have payouts still being held or processed on jobs you posted or worked, deletion is blocked until those funds are released or refunded. You'll see how many jobs and what amount are involved so you know what to wait on.
- Active jobs. Open jobs you've posted, or jobs you're assigned to that are still posted or in progress, are flagged before you confirm. We recommend completing or cancelling these first.
- Already deleted. An account that has already been deleted cannot be deleted again.
How deletion works
- Start from your profile. Go to Profile and open the Danger Zone at the bottom of the page, then choose to delete your account.
- Confirm it's you. You'll re-enter your password (and complete an extra verification step if you have two-factor authentication enabled). You can optionally tell us why you're leaving.
- Held-funds & eligibility check. We confirm there are no funds being held against your account before anything is removed.
- Subscription cancellation. Any active or trialing subscription is cancelled automatically as part of deletion — you don't need to cancel it separately first.
- Personal data removal. Your personal information is scrubbed and the account is closed. Once complete, you're signed out and the account can no longer be accessed.
What gets deleted
We remove or anonymize the personal information tied to your account, including:
- Your name, email address, and phone number
- Profile photo and any business or notary profile details (bio, business name, contact info, logo)
- Saved addresses and location / service-area information
- Two-factor authentication settings and identity-verification data
- Notification and job-matching preferences, and push-notification registrations
- The content of messages you sent (replaced with a placeholder so conversations stay readable for the other party)
What remains
Some records are kept after deletion — in anonymized form — because the law requires it or because they no longer identify you:
- Financial & tax records. Payments, payouts, and ledger entries are retained as required for tax reporting (for example, 1099 filings) and financial compliance.
- Anonymized job history. Completed-job records may be kept as anonymized data for notary / witness statistics. These no longer identify you personally.
- Security & audit logs. Audit and error logs are retained with identifying details (such as IP addresses) removed.
After deletion, your account will no longer be accessible and you won't be able to sign back in.
